Why Choose a Guardian Bandsaw?

We’re immensely proud of our bandsaws at Guardian.

They’re purpose-built for the meat processing industry, and with over 5 years of experience engineering the best butcher bandsaws for production facilities, we’ve perfected our design to ensure it’s nothing short of exceptional.

Our bandsaws are built from the ground up to provide powerful cuts while minimizing the risk of injury. Unlike our competitors, we don’t just add safety features to existing commercial bandsaws. We manufacture our own bandsaws and integrate our patented safety technology to ensure the highest level of protection.

Our expertise in the meat processing industry has led us to develop industry-specific safety features, such as our vision-detection system, which stops the blade before any contact is made, setting us apart in terms of safety. With zero reported injuries on a Guardian Bandsaw, our safety technology is unmatched.

We have also optimized our bandsaws to provide a structurally sound, purpose-built frame that enhances safety without sacrificing power. From the pneumonic tensioning, making changing a blade that much easier, to the internal compressor for plug-and-play convenience, we have considered our customers’ needs at every step.

Through our expertise and attention to industry requirements we’ve delivered phenomenal results to our customers – a Guardian Bandsaw that boasts the highest safety standard on the market.

So why settle for an ordinary bandsaw when you can have the assurance, power, and proficiency of a Guardian Bandsaw?

Butcher Bandsaw Safety Features

Vision sensing technology

The patented multi-view four camera vision system can register a saw operator’s blue gloves in 3D.

The system detects a safety zone around and up the full cutting height of the band saw blade. If the glove is detected in the safety zone, the blade is stopped within milliseconds, before contact is made. To date there have been zero injuries on a Guardian Bandsaw.

No tethering required

The Guardian Lite is ideal for stop/start environments, where operators must juggle cutting meat and serving customers.

With our patented vision sensing technology, operators can make quick, precise cuts without being tethered to the bandsaw for safety. This means that they can seamlessly transition between tasks while minimizing the risk of injury.

Guardian Portal for Operators

Supporting our vision sensing technology is the Guardian Portal System.

Every bandsaw comes fitted with a touchscreen giving operators instant visibility of the blades position to check that the vision sensing cameras are clean and clear. If an activation does occur, the operator can playback the braking event to review why it happened, offering the opportunity to improve their cutting technique.

Guardian Portal for Supervisors

The Guardian Portal is an industry first and sets a new benchmark for safety performance reporting on commercial bandsaws.

Staff are able to log into the portal from anywhere in the world to access a comprehensive suite of reports and charts showing performance of the band saw and the interactions of operators during shifts. Braking events are recorded and can be viewed in real-time, keeping supervisors up to date on operators activations allowing early intervention and further minimizing risk of injury.

Smaller footprint

Measuring only 32.4″ (W) x 30″ (L) x 81.3″ (H), it’s perfect for tight spaces.

But don’t let its small size fool you, it’s still one powerful band saw machine. With a 3HP motor that is reliable and durable, 82 feet per second blade speed and a powerful braking system, Guardian Lite delivers with minimal impact to your floor space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be physically connected to the bandsaw for the safety system to work?
No, the bandsaw operator is not tethered to the machine in any way. This allows them the freedom to move around the room so they can perform their other duties without hassle.
What services are required to run the bandsaw?
The power source can be 240v, 480v or 600v 3 phase. Guardian has installed a compressor inside the bandsaw to remove the need for a dedicated air supply.
How large is the safety zone on your bandsaws?
Two inches at the front of the blade, one inch from either side and one inch from the back.
How does the vision safety system work?

There are four cameras constantly monitoring the blade for a specific colored glove which creates a virtual safety zone. As soon as one of the cameras detects the glove inside the safety zone, the bandsaw stops before the operator’s hand comes into contact with the blade. This is done in a matter of milliseconds.

Does the safety system really work?

It does. Guardian has hundreds of bandsaws operating around the world, which have amassed over one million combined run-hours and 0 injuries.
